Thermax, a company based in India, has partnered with Australia's Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) to explore green hydrogen projects in the country. They are specifically looking at ways to generate green hydrogen for commercial and industrial customers through various methods including biomass and electrolysis. The company aims to set up green hydrogen plants for industries that are challenging to decarbonize such as steel, refineries, and fertilizers. In collaboration with local partners, Thermax has established a strong biomass fuel supply chain across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Karnataka to support their green hydrogen initiatives. This partnership with FFI also involves the development of fully integrated green hydrogen projects and new manufacturing facilities to promote green energy in India. Thermax, known for its solutions in heating, cooling, power generation, water treatment, air pollution control, and chemicals, is expanding its focus towards clean energy sources like waste to energy, waste heat recovery, and various forms of renewable energy including solar, wind, and bio-CNG. Their subsidiary, First Energy, provides solar and solar-wind energy solutions to industrial users through group captive and build-own-operate models. With operational and under-construction projects totaling 209 MW, Thermax is making significant strides in the renewable energy sector.
