The National Renewable Energy Action Plan adopted by Ukraine outlines an ambitious roadmap for the growth of renewable energy sources in the country until 2030. The plan includes substantial targets for various renewable sources such as solar, onshore and offshore wind, bioenergy, and geothermal power plants. In addition to increasing renewable electricity generation, the government aims to boost the share of renewable energy in sectors like heat and cooling, as well as transportation. By incentivizing the use of renewables and investing in energy storage facilities, Ukraine plans to significantly increase the percentage of renewable energy in gross final energy consumption over the next decade. A notable aspect of the Action Plan is the emphasis on developing renewable gases, particularly biomethane and green hydrogen. The production targets set for biomethane and green hydrogen indicate a strong commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions in Ukraine. Despite facing challenges like the war phase in 2022-2023, Ukraine has already seen progress in commissioning new renewable energy capacities, showcasing a positive trajectory towards a greener energy landscape. The Action Plan sets a comprehensive framework for Ukraine's energy transition towards a more sustainable and renewable future.
