Ador Powertron, an Indian power electronics firm, has inaugurated a new 500MW manufacturing plant in Pune, Maharastra, dedicated to producing green hydrogen power solutions. The plant will focus on manufacturing megawatt-scale transformers and rectifiers utilizing advanced technologies like insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), silicon carbide (SiC), and thyristor. These components are crucial for electrolyser systems, as transformers convert high-voltage AC to lower-voltage AC, while rectifiers convert AC output to DC. The facility, named Yonder Hub under Ador's Yonder H2 brand, not only targets the European market but also supports India's renewable energy targets. Ador Powertron plans further expansion in the next three years with an additional investment of Rs 50 Cr ($6.02m). The Chairman emphasized the plant's contribution to India's green energy landscape and national goal of 500GW non-fossil fuel-based power by 2030. The Australian Ambassador's presence at the opening signified the importance of global collaboration in sustainable energy practices. A report by India Hydrogen Alliance (IH2A) suggests a significant market potential for Indian-made hydrogen equipment, projecting a $45-50bn market by 2030, with a majority share attributed to balance of plant equipment.
