The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has unveiled the first recipient of its Hydrogen Headstart Program, awarding $814 million to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for the 1,500 MW Murchison Green Hydrogen Project in Western Australia. This initiative aims to address the current challenges in the hydrogen sector, specifically the gap between market prices and production costs. Darren Miller, CEO of ARENA, highlighted the immense potential of Australia in hydrogen projects and the critical role of the Hydrogen Headstart Program in supporting large-scale developments.
