Beyond Aero, a French start-up, has made its debut at the EBACE exhibition, unveiling its hydrogen-powered business aircraft project. The company has successfully completed a demonstrator flight-test program and is now focusing on the development of an 8-10-passenger aircraft named Beyond Aero One, powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The CEO, Eloa Guillotin, emphasizes the unique challenges of designing an aircraft around hydrogen, particularly in relation to tank positioning and cooling systems. Beyond Aero has already achieved significant milestones by modifying a twin-seat ultralight demonstrator named Bleriot, replacing its petrol engine with a hybrid propulsion system. The company now faces the complex process of certifying the Beyond Aero One, which is projected to have a range of 800nm. Despite regulatory challenges, potential buyers have shown interest in orders totaling $646 million, reflecting a growing demand for sustainable aviation solutions. Guillotin remains optimistic about the future of electric aviation, noting that the industry shift will happen, with the main question being the timeline for adoption.
