The hydrogen-powered ship also features a substantial onboard hydrogen storage capacity of 1,200 pounds, enabling it to cover a range of 236 miles and potentially prevent up to 700 tons of carbon emissions annually. Additionally, the vessel incorporates a lithium battery to store excess energy generated by the fuel cell, with a sophisticated control system that optimizes propulsion.
Scheduled to become operational on the inland route between Jiaxing and Xiasha port in Hangzhou by 2025, the Dong Fang Qing Gang project aligns with China's ambitious goals to promote green hydrogen utilization in transportation.
