DEME, through its DEME HYPORT Energy division, has entered into a significant Cooperation Agreement with the Egyptian Government to establish a large-scale green hydrogen production facility in Egypt's western desert. This project, named HYPORT Gargoub, represents a milestone in Egypt's journey towards green energy. The new facility will be situated at the Port of Gargoub, the country's latest commercial and industrial zone on the Mediterranean coast. Renewable power infrastructure will be located nearby and connected to the production plant, ensuring sustainable operations. With ambitions to produce 320,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually, HYPORT Gargoub is part of DEME's strategy to create 100% green hydrogen molecules. The CEO of DEME, Luc Vandenbulcke, expressed gratitude to the Egyptian leadership for their support and emphasized the company's dedication to becoming a key player in the global green hydrogen sector. This project builds upon DEME's experience from the HYPORT Duqm project in Oman and signifies a step forward in Egypt's efforts towards sustainable industrial development.
