GAIL (India) Ltd has reached a significant milestone by commissioning its first green hydrogen plant in Vijaipur, Madhya Pradesh. The inauguration of the plant, attended by senior officials including Secretary Pankaj Jain and CMD Sandeep Gupta, marked a crucial step in GAIL's commitment to alternative energy sources. The plant, with a capacity to produce 4.3 TPD of hydrogen through 10 MW Proton Exchange Membrane Electrolyzer units, aims to utilize renewable power for electrolyzing water and producing high-purity hydrogen. Initially, the hydrogen will support processes within the plant, with future plans to cater to retail customers in the region. To bolster green hydrogen production, GAIL is procuring renewable power and developing 20 MW of solar capacity at Vijaipur. This initiative not only aligns with GAIL's vision of sustainability but also reflects a strategic move towards diversifying its energy sources and contributing to renewable energy targets in India. The establishment of the green hydrogen plant emphasizes GAIL's proactive approach in adopting innovative energy solutions and showcases its leadership in promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship in the energy sector.
