GLS Germany, a global shipping leader, has completed a successful trial of the Allison-equipped Hyundai Xcient hydrogen fuel cell truck in Germany. Over 30,000 kilometers were covered, delivering more than 100,000 packages in the greater Cologne area since late 2023. The three-axle vehicle is powered by an 180 kW hydrogen fuel cell system with a 350 kW electric motor coupled with an Allison 4000 Series™ transmission.
GLS Germany Operations Manager, Oualid Hamza, expressed openness to new technologies and praised the truck's reliability with no reported problems or breakdowns. The truck's agility and maneuverability were highlighted by GLS Regional Manager, Gero Liebig, who also noted the quiet operation enabling night deliveries in populated areas.
Allison Transmission emphasized the seamless integration of their transmission with varying fuel types, promoting eco-conscious transportation solutions.
