Honda has revealed its latest innovation in hydrogen fuel cells, the Next Generation Fuel Cell Module, boasting impressive improvements over its predecessor. This new module generates 150 kW of power, making it nearly twice as powerful as the previous version developed in partnership with General Motors. The enhancements in this module include an extended output voltage range of 450-850 V, ensuring compatibility with various electric vehicles and hybrid platforms. Moreover, the efficiency factor (EFC) has been raised to 59.8%, enabling more energy-efficient fuel usage. One of the striking improvements is the reduction in module volume from 557 to 300 liters, simplifying integration into different vehicle classes. The power density has seen a substantial boost from 0.14 to 0.50 kW/L, marking a significant advancement in fuel cell technology. Additionally, the durability of the fuel cell has been increased by 66%, enhancing reliability and cost-effectiveness for commercial applications.
