China's Hubei province has unveiled an ambitious draft plan to accelerate the development of its hydrogen industry by 2027. The province aims to double the scale of its hydrogen industry, targeting an output value of 100 billion yuan. This plan emphasizes the promotion of technological advancements, enhancement of industrial and supply chains, and the establishment of a hydrogen storage and transportation network. Wuhan is envisioned as the core of Hubei's hydrogen industry, with plans to create a national hydrogen equipment center focusing on electrolysers and fuel cells. The province is keen on promoting renewable hydrogen technologies, such as biomass-based production. Pilot projects for hydrogen pipelines and refuelling stations are on the agenda, with subsidies provided for transportation-related projects. To foster innovation, the province offers substantial subsidies for technology centers and research labs and plans to establish a hydrogen energy innovation project database. Hubei also aims to support fuel cell component manufacturers, promote fuel cell applications in various sectors, form a hydrogen energy industry alliance, and encourage participation in setting industry standards.
