Hyundai Motor recently announced the milestone achievement of surpassing 1,000 units in cumulative sales of its hydrogen electric bus, Elect City FCEV. This accomplishment comes more than five years after the launch of the vehicle, reflecting a growing interest in eco-friendly transportation solutions. The company's commitment to hydrogen technology dates back to 1998 when it started research and development in this field. Hyundai Motor introduced the world's first hydrogen electric bus, Electricity FCEV, in 2019, followed by the high-speed hydrogen electric bus, Universe FCEV, in 2023. The Electricity FCEV is specifically designed for urban environments, equipped with a powerful 180kW fuel cell system and a large hydrogen tank capacity of 875 liters. Additionally, it features a 78.4kWh high-power battery, making it ideal for routes with high electricity consumption and challenging terrains like hills. The bus incorporates the new ZF motor for enhanced operational efficiency and can travel up to 550km on a single charge, thanks to its high-performance fuel cell system and durable hydrogen tank with top-class capacity.
