During his visit to a floating solar plant in the Omkareshwar Dam in Khandwa district, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi highlighted India's leading position in the green hydrogen sector. The government has initiated a tender for the world's largest green ammonia demonstration project, showcasing India's commitment to renewable energy. Minister Joshi emphasized the ongoing revolution in solar energy, positioning India as a global leader in this field. The development of offshore wind power projects and exploration of geothermal energy are also part of India's renewable energy roadmap. The minister stressed the significance of sustainable energy generation, noting the potential for 90 gigawatts of power generation that remains largely untapped. By replicating successful projects like the Omkareshwar Dam solar plant, India aims to achieve its ambitious targets of 500 gigawatts by 2030 and 1800 gigawatts by 2047. The government's focus on sustainable energy sources aligns with the goal of meeting the country's electricity needs while ensuring environmental sustainability.
