Limak Çimento, a Turkish company, has conducted a month-long trial on hydrogen fuel blends at its cement plant in Ankara. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with Air Liquide from France, which supplied the hydrogen for injection into the preheater tower. The company had previously tested a 50% hydrogen blend at its Polatli plant in June 2024, achieving excellent outcomes. CEO Erkam Kocakerim expressed the aim behind this investment is to facilitate the safe and efficient adoption of hydrogen technologies in their cement kilns while boosting the utilization of alternative fuels. Limak Çimento has set a target to operate its kilns in all seven integrated cement plants using a low-carbon fuel mix between 2030 and 2035 to enhance sustainability within the industry.
