The NSW Government is investing $25 million in constructing a Hydrogen Centre of Excellence at the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) in Glenwood, Sydney. This center aims to train and upskill 8,250 plumbers and gas fitters over the first five years of operation, focusing on renewable energy technologies. The facility, due to be operational by 2027, will offer practical training on hydrogen equipment like electrolysers, gas fitting techniques, and safety protocols, in addition to traditional plumbing skills. The partnership between the NSW Government and PICAC highlights the commitment to addressing skill shortages in the industry and preparing workers for emerging technologies.
