PacificLight Power Pte Ltd (PLP) has been awarded the right by the Energy Market Authority (EMA) to develop a hydrogen-ready Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) facility in Singapore, set to be operational by January 2029 on Jurong Island. With a capacity of at least 600MW, this state-of-the-art CCGT plant will contribute significantly to enhancing Singapore's energy security, grid stability, and journey towards a low-carbon future. The new facility, which can initially use 30% hydrogen and transition to 100% hydrogen later, will also feature a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for added system stability and cost reduction. Additionally, the greenfield site allows for potential future integration of Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) technology, showcasing PLP's commitment to sustainability and decarbonisation. PacificLight Power's CEO, Mr. Yu Tat Ming, expressed gratitude for being entrusted with these critical projects and emphasized the company's dedication to a low-carbon future through innovative technologies.
