The Brittany Region in France has granted a substantial subsidy of €1.5m to Green Navy for their innovative hydrogen-powered catamaran project named PROMETEO. This project aims to introduce a zero-emission passenger shuttle vessel in La Forêt-Fouesnant, aligning with the region's focus on renewable hydrogen development. PROMETEO will feature electric propulsion, hydrogen storage tanks, and a unique design that could revolutionize maritime transport. By combining energy sources from buffer storage batteries and onboard hydrogen, the vessel promises to operate without CO2 emissions, noise, odour, or vibration, while offering increased range and efficiency. Green Navy's CEO, Charles Cardi, highlighted how PROMETEO fits into the regional objectives of decarbonizing maritime transport, supporting economic sectors in the energy transition, and adapting mobility solutions to address climate change. The project involves rigorous testing in collaboration with various partners to ensure its success and provide valuable insights for other hydrogen-fuel projects in Brittany's emerging sector. This initiative represents a significant step towards sustainable and environmentally friendly maritime transportation in the region.
