Partnering with EPC firm Andritz, the installation of the 100MW HydrogenPro alkaline electrolysers at the Flachstahl site is slated for completion by 2026. The green hydrogen generated by this plant will play a crucial role in substituting coking coal in the direct reduced iron (DRI) production process. Subsequently, electric arc furnaces will be utilized to convert the reduced iron and scrap steel into final steel products, leading to a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions by up to 95%.
