Tata Motors is set to introduce trucks powered by hydrogen internal combustion engines on a trial basis starting in the upcoming quarter, as confirmed by a senior company official. This initiative is part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission and will involve a collaboration with IOCL to operate the trucks on three specific routes for a duration of 18 months. The company recently showcased a truck utilizing a hydrogen internal combustion engine at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Tata Motors is actively preparing for the adoption of both hydrogen internal combustion engine technology and fuel cell electric vehicles. The Executive Director, Girish Wagh, mentioned the company's readiness for the commercial launch of hydrogen fuel vehicles in the next 12 to 24 months and emphasized the importance of sustainability and innovation in the sector. Wagh also highlighted the positive developments in the commercial vehicles market and expressed confidence in the government's support for green initiatives and sustainability transitions.
