Tata Power, an integrated power company based in New Delhi, has achieved a significant milestone by being recognized as a Dual Awarding Body by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET). This recognition allows Tata Power to assess, certify, and award qualifications to learners trained at its skill development arm, Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI). The agreement, signed by key officials, aims to address the skill gap in the power sector, focusing on areas such as rooftop solar installations, energy storage, green hydrogen, and pumped hydros.
The NCVET accreditation will enable TPSDI to expand its skilling initiatives and provide certifications in industry-aligned domains, ultimately enhancing the credibility and employability of professionals. With over three lakh individuals already trained, TPSDI will now directly award industry-recognized certifications across its campuses, reinforcing India's green workforce.
Himal Tewari from Tata Power expressed the importance of this recognition in the company's journey towards workforce transformation, emphasizing the role of skilled professionals in India's clean energy transition. The focus on green jobs will lead TPSDI to provide training programs in solar and wind energy, energy storage, grid modernization, and sustainable power solutions.
This initiative not only strengthens Tata Power's position as a leader in industry-aligned skill development but also aligns with India's vision of a sustainable energy future. The company remains committed to contributing meaningfully to nation-building and the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
