AFC Energy, a UK-based developer, recently launched its 2nd Generation H-Power S+ 200kW Generator, a cutting-edge hydrogen fuel cell unit targeting construction and off-grid power applications. The new generator, an advancement from the 1st Generation prototype created in collaboration with ABB, boasts a 34% reduction in size, 28% decrease in weight, and 65% cost savings. AFC Energy highlights the enhanced portability and affordability of the upgraded unit, aiming to facilitate widespread hydrogen adoption. The deployment of the H-Power S+ 200kW Generator will commence through a partnership with Brett Aggregates, supporting facility operations under the UK government's Red Diesel Replacement Grant. This grant, part of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero's initiatives, focuses on advancing clean energy technologies in sectors like construction, mining, and quarrying. The project aligns with the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio's objective of commercializing innovative clean energy solutions. AFC Energy credits the successful development of the new generator to collaborations with key partners like Energy Solutions (UK) Ltd, ABB, Speedy Hire, and Brett Aggregates. Additionally, AFC Energy ventured into a joint project with Speedy Hire, creating Speedy Hydrogen Solutions Ltd (SHS) in 2023 to provide hydrogen fuel cell generators for rent. The positive market reception of SHS by customers has driven significant revenue growth for AFC Energy, with sales to SHS contributing substantially to the company's annual revenues.
