Air Products, a leading company in the hydrogen industry, has revealed its ambitious plan to establish a network of hydrogen refueling stations in California, extending from Northern to Southern regions. This initiative comes shortly after the announcement of a similar project connecting Edmonton and Calgary in Alberta, Canada. The unveiling took place during the California Hydrogen Convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where the company's Vice President of Hydrogen for Mobility, Eric Guter, emphasized the importance of creating a robust hydrogen economy infrastructure to support the energy transition and combat climate change. Air Products, known as the world's largest hydrogen supplier, has committed to investing $15 billion in clean energy megaprojects worldwide by 2027. The new hydrogen refueling stations in California will cater to heavy-duty vehicles like trucks and buses, as well as light-duty fuel cell vehicles. According to Alison Hawkins, Air Products' General Manager – Hydrogen for Mobility, Americas, each station will be advanced, high-capacity facilities capable of serving a large number of vehicles daily. The company's initiative aligns with California's proactive stance on zero-emission transportation, and it is seen as a significant step towards achieving a cleaner future. The project aims to accelerate the energy transition in collaboration with energy companies, vehicle manufacturers, and governments, promoting a sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation ecosystem.
