Sonatrach and Tosyali have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to investigate the feasibility of producing green hydrogen in Algeria. This hydrogen will contribute to the development of green steel at Tosyali's Iron Steel Industry Algeria SPA complex. The partnership aligns with Algeria's national hydrogen strategy, focusing on reducing gas consumption and cutting greenhouse gas emissions. Aiming for sustainability, the collaboration intends to provide Europe with 10% of its clean hydrogen needs by 2040. Additionally, a hydrogen pipeline linked to Italy may facilitate the transportation of green and blue hydrogen. The signing of the MOU at Sonatrach's headquarters signifies a step towards a greener future, as both companies commit to renewable energy projects.
