AM Green Ammonia B.V. has reached a significant milestone by achieving Final Investment Decision (FID) for its groundbreaking green ammonia project located in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India. The project, set to produce 5 million tpy of green ammonia by 2030, represents a key step towards sustainable development and carbon-free energy production. With Gentari and GIC as shareholders, the company plans to convert an existing urea plant in Kakinada into a green ammonia facility, meeting EU green ammonia standards and targeting exports to European markets. The company has secured strategic partnerships and offtake agreements with major industry players like Uniper, Yara, and Keppel for the utilization of green ammonia in various green hydrogen applications. By harnessing 1300 MW of carbon-free power through solar, wind, and pump storage technologies, along with reliable electrolysers, AM Green Ammonia B.V. aims to address renewable intermittency challenges and ensure high utilization of its green ammonia production capacity. In addition to the Kakinada project, the company is strategically focused on expanding green ammonia production across multiple locations in India to meet the country's green hydrogen targets and contribute to global efforts towards net zero emissions.
