Nine B.C. clean-tech companies have been awarded $7.6 million in grant funding from the B.C. Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) to accelerate their technology development, commercialization, and adoption. The winners, chosen from nearly 200 applicants through a call for innovation, cover areas such as energy storage, carbon management, low carbon biofuels, and hydrogen. Notable recipients include HPDI, a joint venture working on hydrogen combustion engines, and Vancouver's PH7 Technologies Inc., focusing on green hydrogen production. Other winning companies are advancing technologies in energy storage, carbon management, and low carbon fuels. This funding aims to drive innovation, create job opportunities, and promote sustainability in British Columbia, aligning with the province's clean economy goals. The CICE, established in 2021 with funding from Shell Canada, the B.C. and federal governments, is dedicated to accelerating clean-tech advancements in sectors like carbon capture, hydrogen production, biofuels, renewable natural gas, and battery technology. With previous investments totaling $31 million in 47 projects valued over $170 million, CICE plays a crucial role in fostering clean energy and climate technology projects in the region.
