The Ministry of Mines and Energy in Brazil has announced the selection of 12 low-carbon hydrogen hub projects to drive the decarbonization of the country's industrial sector. Companies like CSN Group, EDP Renováveis ​​Brasil, and Petrobrás, among others, presented proposals focusing on hydrogen production from various sources such as electricity, wind, solar, and biomass. These projects, with production capacities ranging from 1,000 to 350,000 tons of hydrogen per year, represent a significant effort towards reducing carbon emissions. The selected companies will now proceed to the next stage, where they will present detailed project plans to secure support from Climate Investments Funds for the projects' viability. The initiative is part of Brazil's strategy to promote industrial decarbonization, with applications of hydrogen expected in sectors like steel, aluminum, fertilizers, and refining processes. This move highlights the country's commitment to sustainable practices and the utilization of renewable energy sources for economic growth.
