Hystar AS, based in Høvik, Norway, has been awarded a €26 million grant from the EU Innovation Fund to enhance its production capabilities for PEM electrolyzer stacks. This grant will support the establishment and operation of an automated GW production line at Hystar's Høvik location. The company's innovative PEM electrolyzer stack technology aims to revolutionize the green hydrogen industry by driving down costs, improving performance, and ensuring safer operations in hydrogen plants. By automating stack production and leveraging existing supply chains for essential components, Hystar can rapidly expand its manufacturing capacity and make green hydrogen more cost-effective and widely available. Currently producing stacks at a 100 MW capacity, Hystar plans to increase this to 1.5 GW by 2027 and further to 4.5 GW by 2031 with the implementation of the automated GW factory. The CEO of Hystar, Fredrik Mowill, expressed enthusiasm about the EU Innovation Fund's support, emphasizing the company's dedication to meeting global demand and achieving production efficiencies for hard-to-abate sectors. With this grant, Hystar is poised to lead the industry in stack manufacturing on a large scale, marking a significant milestone in the deployment of its groundbreaking technology.
