Arunabha Ghosh, the chief of CEEW, highlighted at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos the shift of climate change from an environmental concern to a pivotal economic and business issue. He emphasized leveraging new disruptors like artificial intelligence and clean technologies for sustainable growth. Ghosh stressed the need for deeper integration of renewables, greater electrification, industrial sustainability, and circular economy practices to ensure a more sustainable future. He commended India's efforts in missions for critical minerals, green hydrogen, and domestic manufacturing of cleantech products to drive a low-carbon transition and economic transformation. Ghosh also discussed India's potential to indigenize a significant portion of electrolyser technologies for hydrogen production, showcasing the country's commitment to self-reliant clean energy solutions. Overall, he viewed climate policy as increasingly intertwined with industrial policy and emphasized the importance of rebuilding trust and cooperation on a global scale for resilient and secure economic growth.
