DiagnaMed and Texas Tech's Breakthrough in Hydrogen Technology
Key Ideas
  • DiagnaMed Holdings partners with Texas Tech University to commercialize a groundbreaking technology for producing hydrogen from petroleum reservoirs and natural fields, potentially at $0.86 per kilogram.
  • The innovative approach combines hydraulic fracturing and electromagnetic wave heating to extract hydrogen from various sources, including oil, gas, and shale reservoirs.
  • The partnership aims to transform global oil and gas fields, repurpose abandoned wells, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and meet the increasing global demand for clean, cost-effective hydrogen.
DiagnaMed Holdings, a leader in hydrogen-producing technologies, has entered a strategic partnership with Texas Tech University to pioneer a groundbreaking hydrogen production technology. Developed by Dr. Qingwang Yuan of Texas Tech's HOPE Group, the innovative technology utilizes hydraulic fracturing and electromagnetic wave heating to extract hydrogen from petroleum reservoirs and natural fields. With production costs potentially as low as $0.86 per kilogram, this aligns with the U.S. Department of Energy's goal of achieving $1/kg hydrogen by 2031. Fabio Chianelli, Chairman and CEO of DiagnaMed, expressed the technology's potential to revolutionize over 25,000 active oil and gas fields globally, along with repurposing 2-3 million abandoned wells in the U.S. The collaboration also aims to address global clean energy demands, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and provide cost-effective, carbon-zero hydrogen. Supported by a Techno-Economic Analysis from Argonne National Laboratory, this technology enhances energy efficiency and reduces costs and carbon footprints. As global hydrogen demand is expected to rise significantly, the partnership positions DiagnaMed and Texas Tech as key players in the clean energy sector, poised to meet the growing global hydrogen demand.
