EET Hydrogen Signs Contract for UK's First Large-Scale Low Carbon Hydrogen Project
Key Ideas
  • Essar Energy Transition (EET) Hydrogen signs contract with ENKA for the flagship low carbon hydrogen production plant (HPP1) in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.
  • HPP1 will have a production capacity of 350MW, capturing around 6,00,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, equivalent to removing 2,50,000 cars from the road.
  • The partnership between EET Hydrogen and ENKA aims to advance the UK's low carbon hydrogen industry, support the HyNet Cluster, and drive economic growth in the North West of England.
  • ENKA, a global engineering and construction firm, brings expertise and a commitment to excellence to the HPP1 project, reinforcing their support for emissions reduction and sustainable economic growth.
Essar Energy Transition (EET) Hydrogen has signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with ENKA for the development of a flagship low carbon hydrogen production plant (HPP1) at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, UK. The UK government has provided funding for HPP1 as the country's first large-scale low carbon hydrogen project within the HyNet Cluster. HPP1 will have a capacity of 350MW and aims to capture around 6,00,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, making a significant impact on reducing emissions. This partnership marks a crucial step for the UK's hydrogen industry, the HyNet Cluster, and EET Hydrogen's goal of developing 4GW of low carbon hydrogen production across the North West of England to support industrial decarbonization and drive economic growth. ENKA, a global engineering and construction firm based in Turkey, is set to bring its expertise to the HPP1 project, leveraging its experience in delivering complex projects. Both EET Hydrogen and ENKA are committed to advancing the UK's low carbon hydrogen industry, contributing to global decarbonization efforts, and supporting sustainable economic growth in the region.
