The EU Commission is taking steps to provide public access to challenge State aid decisions that may breach EU environmental laws. In the renewable energy sector, the Commission has approved an €80 million Dutch measure to support Djewels B.V. in demonstrating innovative renewable hydrogen production technology. Additionally, a €998 million Dutch scheme aims to boost hydrogen production through electrolysis capacity expansion. Spain's €1.2 billion scheme targets investment in various renewable hydrogen-related projects. Furthermore, the Commission endorsed a €1.5 billion French scheme for sustainable biomethane production and a significant €10.82 billion French initiative for offshore wind farms. The latter includes the construction of two large wind farms in specific zones. The Commission also sanctioned a €122 million Lithuanian measure to aid AB Achema in decarbonizing fertiliser production processes. These approvals signify a positive stance towards environmental initiatives and state aid in promoting sustainable practices and reducing carbon emissions.
