The Core Innovation Hub and South Australian Hydrogen Hubs Inc (SA-H2H™) organized a 'Core Connect' event in Adelaide on July 23 to delve into the expanding hydrogen industry in South Australia. The event aimed at connecting suppliers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry members to facilitate collaboration and innovative solutions in the hydrogen energy sector. Jorge Martin Gistau from Ricardo plc shared insights on hydrogen themes during a panel session led by SA-H2H™ Chairman Graham Dooley. Ricardo is currently working with SA-H2H™ on a feasibility study for hydrogen technology retrofitting in heavy duty vehicles in the state. South Australia's prominence in sustainable hydrogen was highlighted, with significant government funding towards green hydrogen projects and the development of a hydrogen precinct in Whyalla, strategically located near prime solar and wind assets. The collaborative environment created by SA-H2H™ is driving the development of a hydrogen ecosystem involving various stakeholders. The panel discussion also touched on supply chain challenges, workforce needs, funding, and technological advancements in the sector. The event concluded on a positive note, with attendees expressing enthusiasm about the future of clean energy and decarbonisation in Australia.
