Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India's ambition to become a global hub for Green Hydrogen production, utilization, and export at the International Conference on Green Hydrogen in Delhi. He stressed the need for international partnerships to expedite the impact of Green Hydrogen on decarbonization. The conference, attended by key officials like Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, focused on India's capacity to lead in green hydrogen production and export. Puri outlined various initiatives by the Ministry to enhance hydrogen production, including partnerships with organizations like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for the first Green Hydrogen plant in the aviation sector and developments by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL). The introduction of the National Green Hydrogen Mission with significant investments aims to reduce fossil fuel imports and create job opportunities. Additionally, emphasis was placed on safety measures, emission compliance, and the importance of adhering to standards in the development and rollout of green hydrogen-powered vehicles.
