Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has announced the initiation of the selection process for Green Hydrogen Producers under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme. This scheme, established by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), targets the development of production facilities in India dedicated to generating Green Hydrogen and its derivatives, with an annual production capacity goal of 4,50,000 metric tonnes. SECI's notification indicates that the tender documents will closely adhere to the Scheme Guidelines issued by MNRE on July 3, 2024, falling within the framework of the National Green Hydrogen Mission's Component II, specifically emphasizing incentivizing Green Hydrogen production. The objective of this initiative is to enhance India's capacity for sustainable energy production by facilitating the establishment of dedicated facilities for Green Hydrogen, aligning with the government's strategic agenda to promote cleaner energy alternatives and mitigate carbon emissions. SECI anticipates that the forthcoming tender documents will offer detailed information on eligibility criteria, application processes, and project prerequisites for interested producers.
