Global industrial gases and engineering company Linde has made a significant move by signing a long-term agreement to supply clean hydrogen to Dow's Path2Zero Project in Fort Saskatchewan, Canada. This partnership involves Linde investing over $2 billion to construct a large-scale production facility in Alberta that will integrate clean hydrogen production with atmospheric gases, using autothermal reforming and Linde's proprietary HISORP carbon capture technology. The facility, expected to be operational by 2028, will not only provide clean hydrogen, nitrogen, and other services to support Dow's net-zero emissions ethylene cracker and derivatives site but also offer its clean hydrogen to other industrial customers seeking to reduce their carbon footprint. With plans to capture and sequester over 2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, this initiative marks a significant step towards decarbonization. Linde's CEO, Sanjiv Lamba, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability through strategic investments and collaborations, expressing pride in partnering with Dow to drive decarbonization efforts. The importance of collaboration was echoed by Jim Fitterling, Chair and CEO of Dow, who highlighted the support from partners like Linde, the Province of Alberta, and the Federal Government in achieving decarbonization goals.
