Malaysian companies LBS Bina Group Berhad, Invest Sabah Berhad, Sabah Forestry Development Authority (SAFODA), and Midwest Green have joined forces to establish a groundbreaking green hydrogen production facility in Kota Marudu, Malaysia. This facility, set to produce 10 GW of green hydrogen annually, will be powered by solar and wind energy on a site spanning 15,000 to 30,000 acres. The strategic location of Kota Marudu, with its high solar irradiance levels and consistent wind speeds, promises efficient energy generation capabilities, further bolstered by its proximity to seaports for export logistics. The memorandum of understanding signed between the involved parties outlines plans for land surveys, site inspections, and the formation of a consortium structure to engage local and international stakeholders. LBS Bina Group will take the lead as the master developer, emphasizing sustainable growth and innovation in the green energy sector. The project is anticipated to catalyze the establishment of green industrial parks, offering economic benefits and job opportunities for the local population. Tan Sri Dato Sri’ Ir.
