McDermott, a prominent engineering and construction company, has been awarded an Early Contractor Involvement agreement by Abraxas Power Corporation for the Exploits Valley Renewable Energy Corporation project in Central Newfoundland, Canada. The project marks a significant milestone as it will be Canada's first commercial green hydrogen and ammonia production facility. It includes the establishment of a massive wind farm comprising 530 turbines capable of generating 3.5 GW of electricity and a 150 MW solar photo voltaic system. Additionally, the facility will have the capacity to produce 165kta of hydrogen and 5000 metric tons per day of ammonia. McDermott's Senior Vice President, Rob Shaul, expressed confidence in the company's expertise and capabilities in delivering this project successfully. McDermott will provide front-end engineering design, engineering, procurement, and construction services for the hydrogen production, ammonia processing, and product storage aspects of the project. The company's integrated delivery model and vast experience are expected to drive cost savings, mitigate risks, and ensure high-quality outcomes. The project activities will be primarily managed from McDermott's Houston office with support from its office in India.
