Hydrom, in partnership with the Oman Vision 2040 unit and the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, has successfully concluded a two-week Ecosystem Readiness Lab in Muscat, Oman. The lab resulted in the formulation of 26 initiatives aimed at achieving Oman's 2030 green hydrogen production targets. These initiatives cover key areas such as permits, workforce development, logistics, and local content, and are set to be submitted for approval soon. The focus on the construction and engineering sector includes efforts to enhance the capacity of local firms for green hydrogen projects. The workforce development stream aims to upskill the national workforce and establish health and safety standards in line with international practices. The regulatory framework is also under review to simplify procedures for faster project execution, while logistical needs are being addressed to support green hydrogen production and export. The ultimate goal of these initiatives is to solidify Oman's position as a leader in green hydrogen production and export. By aligning public and private sectors, Oman aims to drive private sector investment, foster innovation, and position itself as a key player in the global green energy market. Through these efforts, Oman is working towards meeting its 2030 green hydrogen targets and contributing to a sustainable future.
