In Muscat, Oman, Hydrom, in collaboration with the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit and Ministry of Energy and Minerals, launched a two-week Ecosystem Readiness Lab aimed at advancing national plans for green hydrogen production by 2030. The lab, overseen by H E Salim Nasser al Aufi, focuses on assessing the country's infrastructure readiness through five pivotal workstreams. These streams cover construction and engineering, skilled labor development, regulatory framework enhancement, logistics optimization, and local content enrichment. The objective is to create a synergistic roadmap that aligns all sectors towards a sustainable future and positions Oman as a global green hydrogen leader. Abdulaziz al Shidhani, Managing Director of Hydrom, emphasized the importance of inclusive preparation for the challenges ahead to ensure economic resilience and success. The initiative is part of Oman's commitment to green hydrogen as a crucial component of its energy transition strategy and Vision 2040. By leveraging natural resources, enhancing local capabilities, and fostering global partnerships, Oman aims to lead the way in green hydrogen production. The lab sessions are not just strategic exercises but significant steps towards a transformative and inclusive transition to green hydrogen, focusing on preparedness for long-term opportunities and challenges. The ultimate goal is to achieve over 1 million metric tons per annum of green hydrogen production by 2030 through a comprehensive roadmap that ensures accountability and transparency in tracking progress.
