Romania is set to establish a regional research hub for hydrogen-based technologies, as announced by the Research, Digitalization, and Innovation Minister, Bogdan Ivan. The project, developed by the National Institute for Research and Development of Cryogenic and Isotopic Technologies in collaboration with Babeş-Bolyai University and the Technical University of Bucharest, aims to host an experimental line for the entire hydrogen production system. With a focus on optimizing processes, the initiative will also facilitate technology transfer to the market through partnerships with nine SMEs. Funded by EUR 130 million from the EU, the project involves 81 researchers and aims to enhance research and innovation infrastructure in Romania. Additionally, the project will result in a dozen patents for new hydrogen technologies being owned by the Romanian state, contributing to the country's intellectual property. This endeavor is expected to create numerous employment opportunities within the hydrogen technology sector, aligning with the government's goals for research and innovation development.
