The Scottish Government has announced a funding opportunity of up to £7 million for green hydrogen projects across Scotland. This funding is intended to support the development of projects involved in hydrogen production, with capacities ranging from 5 to 400 megawatts. The goal is to assist these projects in covering their development costs and progressing hydrogen supply chain and storage solutions. Organisations can seek up to £2 million in match-funding through the program, managed by Scottish Enterprise. This funding initiative is part of a larger strategy to promote hydrogen innovation and complements the previous allocation of nearly £7 million to 31 projects under the Hydrogen Innovation Scheme since 2023. Acting Minister for Climate Action, Alasdair Allan, emphasized the significance of the energy sector and particularly green hydrogen in driving Scotland's economy and meeting net zero objectives. Allan highlighted Scotland's abundant renewable energy resources as pivotal in the production of green hydrogen. The government's commitment aims to leverage these resources to facilitate sustainable energy practices and contribute to the country's environmental goals.
