Fu Xiaolong, deputy director of the International Hydrogen Energy Center (IHEC), highlighted the importance of global cooperation and innovation to make clean energy accessible to developing nations at the 29th session of COP. The conference proposed a climate finance goal of 1.3 trillion USD by 2035, urging developed nations to contribute 250 billion USD annually to support developing countries. While hydrogen energy is considered vital for zero-carbon growth, challenges like high costs and limited applications persist. To address this, Fu stressed the need for technological and industrial innovation to develop next-gen materials, hydrogen production platforms, and control systems to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Additionally, expanding clean hydrogen's role in low-carbon fuel production is crucial. The IHEC aims to integrate into UNIDO's global cooperation network, starting with hydrogen energy, to enable affordable zero-carbon industrial development in developing countries. The COP29 discussions focused on strategies for reducing carbon emissions, achieving carbon neutrality, and transitioning to green technologies. The IHEC, based in Beijing, serves as a technology innovation hub for hydrogen energy, supported by UNIDO. The center aims to leverage countries' strengths in the hydrogen value chain and promote global cooperation through the hydrogen trade network for sustainable industrial development.
