Global law firm White & Case LLP has played a pivotal role in advising the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and JSC Uzkimyosanoat in establishing the country's inaugural green hydrogen production facility. Partnering with ACWA Power Company of Saudi Arabia, this project in Chirchiq is set to be a milestone for the Central Asian region. The facility, powered by a 52MW wind farm, will utilize electrolyser technology from a Chinese company to produce green hydrogen for ammonia-based fertiliser production, heralding a shift towards sustainability and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. In addition, White & Case facilitated joint agreements to develop an integrated renewable energy and electrolyser-based hydrogen project aiming for a substantial yearly output of green ammonia. Led by partners Mukund Dhar and Kamilla Azamat, the project team underscores the significance of this venture in promoting energy transition and driving similar green energy initiatives in the area.
