The Electrical Trades Union of Australia has expressed strong support for the joint investment of $70.5 million by the Albanese and Cook Labor Governments to establish the country's first Clean Energy Skills National Centre of Excellence in Western Australia. The Centre will operate within the WA TAFE network and focus on providing training in various clean energy technologies such as solar, wind, hydrogen, batteries, and grid integration. By fast-tracking the development of apprenticeship pathways equivalent to higher degrees, the Centre aims to meet the increasing demand for skilled workers in the clean energy sector. Jobs and Skills Australia has highlighted the need for an additional 32,000 electricians by 2030 and 85,000 by 2050, underlining the importance of initiatives like the Centre of Excellence.
