Coventry University and the British University in Egypt (BUE) have partnered on a project dedicated to training specialists in hydrogen technology. The initiative, titled 'Hydrogen Technology for a Green Future: Strengthening Transnational Education and Curriculum Development,' has secured funding of £25,000 from the British Council. The primary goal of this collaborative effort is to enhance expertise in various aspects of hydrogen technology such as production, storage, and transport, in both the UK and Egypt. One of the core components of the project is the establishment of a Hydrogen Energy Training Hub, where workshops will be conducted at the BUE campus near Cairo, Coventry University's city center campus, and also online to facilitate broader access. Dr. Jayesh Shanthi Bhavan, the project lead from Coventry University, emphasized the significance of cleaner and greener energy sources for a sustainable future on a global scale. Ayman Salah Abbas, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at BUE and project lead, highlighted the project's aim to raise awareness among students, academics, and industry professionals about emerging sustainable technologies in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt Vision 2030. This collaboration is seen as a crucial step towards fostering future partnerships between educational institutions worldwide. Heba Elzein, the Director of Education at British Council Egypt, praised the partnership between Coventry University and BUE under the British Council's Going Global Partnerships initiative. She underscored the importance of transnational education in driving growth, innovation, and global cooperation. The British Council aims to support higher education systems in promoting accessible transnational education and believes that partnerships like this are integral to achieving these goals.
