The Centre of Hydrogen Energy (CHE) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) organized three impactful sessions of the Hydrogen 101 Training Course for Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) executives at TNB ILSAS in Bandar Baru Bangi. The course, held on 1-3 October, 28-30 October, and 17-19 December 2024, aimed to explore hydrogen's transformative potential in shaping Malaysia's energy future. Participants were introduced to hydrogen fundamentals, production methods, safety protocols, and its critical role in Malaysia's National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR). The program also highlighted TNB's Hydrogen for Power Flagship project, in collaboration with Petronas, focusing on decarbonizing power plants using green hydrogen and ammonia co-firing technologies. Additionally, practical knowledge on hydrogen applications in energy generation, industrial processes, and cleaner transportation systems was provided, with advanced discussions on fuel cells, storage solutions, and transportation technologies. The hands-on demonstrations of a green electrolyzer and fuel cell system were a significant highlight, offering participants practical exposure to these innovations. The success of the program was attributed to expert trainers, including Prof. Nasef, Dr. Anwar Johari, and others, who inspired participants throughout the sessions. The Hydrogen 101 Training Course underscores TNB's commitment to sustainable energy by equipping executives to drive low-carbon initiatives and innovate for a greener future. UTM and TNB aim to continue their collaboration to build human capital and advance sustainable energy solutions, shaping the leaders of tomorrow for a cleaner and brighter energy future.
