KBR, a leading global provider of consulting and engineering services, has secured an advisory consulting contract from Kuwait Oil Company to assist in the development of a comprehensive masterplan for renewables and hydrogen production in Kuwait. The project aims to achieve a substantial renewable energy capacity of 17GW along with 25GW of green hydrogen production by the year 2050. KBR's role will involve designing a phased approach for the deployment of wind and solar power integrated with power storage solutions. The renewable energy generated will be utilized for green hydrogen production, catering to both internal industrial needs and external export markets. Jay Ibrahim, the President of Sustainable Technology Solutions at KBR, expressed enthusiasm about contributing to Kuwait's ambitious national strategy and expanding KBR's footprint in the country. The contract signifies KBR's expertise in guiding major energy transition initiatives on a national scale, leveraging their extensive experience in successful project execution and technology implementation in the GCC region. Over the next 18 months, KBR will conduct in-depth market analysis, techno-commercial feasibility studies, and provide training to Kuwaiti professionals to enhance their knowledge in renewable energy and hydrogen technologies.
