Lorient Agglomeration in Brittany, France, is taking significant steps towards sustainable and eco-friendly public transportation by ordering 19 IVECO hydrogen buses for its Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) services. The collaboration with IVECO will see the introduction of hydrogen GX 337 H2 buses in the LINIUM BRT version, with the first 5 buses expected to commence operations in the second half of 2025. Additionally, a renewable hydrogen distribution station is under construction to support the refueling needs of these buses, with a completion target set for mid-2025. This station, the first of its kind in France, will enable quick refueling in just 4 hours, enhancing the efficiency of the green transport initiative. The deployment of these hydrogen buses marks a pivotal moment in Lorient Agglomeration's green hydrogen ecosystem, encompassing production, transportation, and technology advancement. By embracing zero-emission hydrogen buses, Lorient Agglomeration aims to lead the way in sustainable public transportation within the Brittany region. The buses will be powered by a sophisticated system comprising a 100 kW Hyundai fuel cell and a 69 kWh FPT Industrial battery, promoting fuel efficiency and a range of up to 450 kilometers. Giorgio Zino, the Head of IVECO BUS Europe Commercial Operations, expressed the company's enthusiasm in supporting Lorient Agglomeration's green mobility goals.
