North Queensland has inaugurated a cutting-edge Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Training Facility and Advanced Manufacturing Skills Lab in Townsville. The $18.29 million investment by the Miles Labor Government aims to prepare locals for in-demand blue-collar careers in the region's growing renewable energy sector. The new facility at Bohle TAFE offers training in electrical, engineering, construction trades, and advanced manufacturing skills, with a focus on providing qualifications that are free for students and employers. The Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Training Facility features state-of-the-art amenities like a mixed reality studio, workshops for instrumentation, and training for hydrogen-powered heavy vehicles. Additionally, the Advanced Manufacturing Skills Lab will provide training in augmented reality, automation, cyber security, and robotics to support the expansion of this crucial industry. The Queensland Government's initiative includes partnering with Energy Skills Queensland to enhance the state's future energy workforce. With a strong emphasis on renewable energy, the program will involve over 2,000 students from various high schools, ensuring the growth of a skilled workforce in the clean energy sector.
