The National University of Singapore (NUS) has officially launched the Centre for Hydrogen Innovations (CHI) to propel hydrogen research and applications in Singapore. The CHI research facility, equipped with advanced technology, aims to address challenges in enabling a hydrogen economy. CHI has funded numerous innovative projects, secured external grants, and is embarking on new initiatives to drive advancements in green hydrogen technologies. The Centre is also focusing on talent development by recruiting scholars and PhD students, offering hydrogen technology courses, and hosting events like the "Hydrogen Innovation Challenge" to educate the public. Collaborating with industry partners like Siemens Energy and Chevron, CHI is pioneering projects such as developing gas turbines using partially cracked ammonia and exploring direct liquid hydrogen carrier production via electrocatalysis. By promoting industry partnerships and technological innovations, CHI is playing a key role in advancing Singapore's sustainable energy future.
